Location: University of Reading, Whiteknights Campus, Reading, Berkshire
Salary: £36,595.63 per annum
Contract: Fixed term contract (18 months) Full time 35 hours a week

The Role: Project Manager
Are you passionate about strategic change and project management?
We’re looking for a Project Manager to lead bold, student-focused change across Reading Students’ Union. Over the next 18 months, you’ll take charge of a portfolio of exciting strategic projects that bring our vision to life. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, student representatives, and key stakeholders to turn ideas into impact—driving innovation, embedding agile processes, and building a culture that’s ambitious, collaborative, and data-driven.
What You’ll Do
Lead a portfolio of high-impact projects that challenge the status quo and deliver real results for students.
Turn strategy into action by translating big ideas into clear, achievable plans with measurable outcomes.
Own the full project lifecycle—from scoping and scheduling to execution, monitoring, and evaluation.
Implement smart project management tools and agile processes to transform how we work and embed continuous improvement.
Champion collaboration across teams and inspire stakeholders—from Trustees to student leaders.
Mentor and train others in project management best practice to build organisational capability.
Drive data-informed decision-making—use insights to shape projects, track progress, and demonstrate impact.
Manage risks and navigate resistance with confidence to ensure smooth delivery.
Represent the SU externally to raise our profile and showcase the impact of strategic projects.
Celebrate success and share learning—evaluate outcomes and feed insights back into future planning.
About You
Essential
Proven experience in project management and delivering strategic change.
Project Management qualification.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and lead teams effectively.
Confident with data-driven planning and agile methodologies.
Organised, adaptable, and ready to make things happen.
Coaching and training skills to share your expertise with others.
Confidence and expertise to design and shape our project management systems for best practice and accessibility.
Desirable
Experience in a charity, education, or student-focused environment.
Knowledge of Students’ Union sector
